Sorry for the unresponsive last few days.

I went through a withdrawal from my assignment and was decompressing. Though I didn’t get as far as I hoped, I didn’t entirely forget about what I had to do and watched some videos about drawing heads and one of Vilppu’s gesture video. I was completely discouraged about my last timed gesture sketches and that contributed to a blow on my self-esteem.

I was distraught over the appearance of my head constructions, too. But hey, practice makes perfect and getting stuck on this is not good for me in the long run.

That didn’t go the way I thought it would.

Before trying to practice drawing heads, I wanted to see what would happen if I sat through a longer session and shorter amount of time than my previous gesture practices. No erasing or tuning up the drawings. I wanted to see where I was going.

Well, it was worse than I thought. At 30 second intervals instead of 45 (and 40 weird poses per session), I panicked more than I anticipated. No time to think where to put down my strokes. It didn’t help that I didn’t draw yesterday either.

I’ll try again tomorrow since I wasn’t use to the pace. I dove into some notes in Hampton’s figure drawing book since it went more in depth than his videos.

notesThis is pretty embarrassing too, but I forgot so much steps in his head construction lecture. I think I have to refer to skull studies to understand it more. I’m not even to the muscles yet, but I regret not learning figure drawing when I was younger. Oh well. Better late than never.

Tired today.

I will be spending time today looking at Vilppu gesture vids and browsing Hampton’s figure drawing book. Using Vilppu as a supplemental guide is a great benefit. He even explains the box body that Hampton didn’t explain in the first video.

But yea, I’m tired. I created three other secret blogs about other studies to update along with this blog, and I also clean and cook around the apartment because my youngest sibling can’t take care of herself.

Also I’m spending too much time browsing 4chan so that’s my mistake. I won’t go on 4chan or other networking sites until the end of this year.

I’m going to sleep early.

(I have like, three days to finish my head constructions.)

Edit: Starting on value study for a tree. Now I go to sleep.

Gesture warmups, then notes.

Yesterday I went to B&N and got a cheap skeleton book. It didn’t have a lot of pages but it was pretty much the only other anatomy book I can find that didn’t lean towards medical ref. The selection for artist anatomy books was disappointing.

Today I’m sitting through a session of quick poses. I stopped cleaning up the gesture lines because it was eating up my time. Watching head construction video again.

Edit: Stopped at 27 minutes to go to bed. Due to the rain I am tired earlier than expected.

Woke up late but at least I’m done. QQ

I had so many questions about construction, but I think there would be more explanation in future Hampton vids so I can just continue to Week 3. I mostly worked on landmarks. Scapula was a hassle and so was box construction for the pelvis.

Tomorrow I will be hanging out with my siblings so it’s probably my day off, but I haven’t taken notes for head drawing yet.

Anatomy notes.

I didn’t understand much of the landmarks on the forearm and legs when practicing anatomy, so I watched a few videos and took notes instead.

My sibling bought Arkham Horror LCG so I’ve been playing with it. That ate up my time yesterday. Now I will go make sticky rice.
